Honey BBQ Sausage & Sweet Potato Hash

A sweet and savory skillet meal featuring perfectly cooked
Tallent Honey BBQ Sausage, caramelized sweet potatoes, and onions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Tallent Honey BBQ Sausage (fresh links)
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp honey (optional for extra sweetness)
  • 2 tbsp BBQ sauce (optional for extra flavor)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • 2 fried or poached eggs (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Sausage

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add ½ cup of water.
  • Place the Tallent Honey BBQ Sausage links in the skillet and cover with a lid.
  • Let them cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are firm and mostly cooked through.
  • Remove the lid, drain any excess water, and add 1 tbsp of olive oil to the pan.
  • Brown the sausages on all sides for another 3-4 minutes until fully cooked (internal temp: 160°F).
  • Transfer to a plate, let them rest for a few minutes, then slice into bite-sized rounds.

2. Sauté the Vegetables

  • In the same skillet, add another 1 tbsp of olive oil.
  • Add the diced sweet potatoes and cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the onions and bell peppers, and continue to cook for another 5 minutes until tender.

3. Combine & Finish

  • Return the sliced sausage to the skillet.
  • Stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the honey and BBQ sauce, if using, and stir to coat.
  • Cook everything together for 2-3 minutes until flavors meld.

4. Serve & Garnish

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
  • Top with a fried or poached egg for extra richness.
